We are VERY grateful that most of the damage done to the Houston area is downed trees and no power! It looks like a disaster zone but amazingly, very few houses were really affected by the 100 mile an hour winds. Galveston is of course another story though. It has been fun to see neighbors out helping each other and with most people without power, many are just hanging out outside getting to know each other. We were some of the lucky few who got power less than 24 hours after the storm!
We lost two big trees and had a lot to clean up, but fared the storm quite well! I will say though, it was NOT fun to go through it and it was extremely scary as it was soooooo loud! Next time, I would not mind going out of town to avoid the whole thing!
Jon and I took a walk tonight and it was crazy to see every other street with electricity on one side but not the other and most streets were completely dark and quite, except for the occasional hum of generators. Power cords were scattered on the streets to help out the neighbors across the streets without power, and flashlights danced around inside houses.
