Colorado weekend

We did a very short trip this past weekend to Colorado. Jon's parent's get a cabin every year in a small town called Bailey (South of Denver in the Mts.), so we stayed with them for two nights. Our first day was spent in the emergency room (see previous blog), and then we drove to Winter Park for the night. That was a blast! We stayed right at the base of the ski slope and got to do some hiking on Sat. There is a lot to do there even in the summer. Jon was a little bit jealous b/c there was a huge mountain bike race going on throughout the ski slopes and he couldn't join them. Maybe next time... Then we drove to Bailey and stayed with his parents. We drove up over the mountians (some pass?) and went to a historic town at the bottom of the mt. called Georgetown (very cute). I however, was having a bad food day and was extremely hungry and nothing sounded good- so I was pretty miserable to be around that day! Ramen noodles when all else fails! The fox in the picture would come by and hang out , and wait to be fed! Pretty fun to see them!
Jon has a dream vacation of spending a week in the mountains and a week at the beach. This was as close to that dream as we could come with 3 days in CO. followed by our trip to Hawaii for 9 days this Friday. ALOHA!!!!

Baby Klubnik update

The world of technology is so great today! I have definitely become spoiled with ultrasounds and if I go more than a couple of weeks without one, I feel like I am missing out on something really big! (yes, I am only 14 1/2 weeks- but we have already had 6 of them!)
The first two pictures were taken b/c I thought I had another infection, and they couldn't find the heartbeat on the sound scan thing. So, before I could totally freak out, they did a scan to look for the baby.
The last picture was taken this past Friday in Colorado! I was having really bad cramps on Thursday and by the time my nurse called me back (6 hrs later) and I got the message (5:05pm), they were closed. So off to Colorado we went Friday morning. I left another message with the nurse and when she called back we had just landed. She couldn't believe I would leave town when I was cramping and not get checked out... to which I replied " that was why I called yesterday!". So I was told I needed to go to the emergency room and get checked out.

We landed in Denver and drove straight to the nearest emergency room and promptly waited for 5 hours to see a doctor!! Yes, 5 hours of sitting there waiting to know if baby was ok! I was a wreck and starving! But we were VERY thankful that baby was doing well and has a strong heartbeat! The doctor said it was most likely my ligaments being stretched.
I think both of us are still just so anxious with all that has happened with our friends this summer, that we are really being cautious right now.
I really do think that having a baby is a miracle. Maybe not in the Biblical sense as my husband points out- but to have a human being grow inside of you and we have absolutely no control over the process is amazing! God knows exactly which cells go where and how everything fits together! It's soooo cool!

Update on our dear friends...

There is a song by Matt Redman called "Blessed be your name", and the lyrics are very real and yet very hard to grasp when going through hard times. below is part of the song. I am thinking of this song because our dear friends Matt and Lori have now lost both their baby girls. Neither one got to live more than a couple of days, but yet they were loved tremendously and will be missed for a very long time. Lori is back in the hospital with blood clots and they have to bury their girls this week. I can not imagine the grief and sorrow thye are going through right now. I guess I am thinking of this song because it is my prayer for them during all of this. That no matter what, they will trust in God and be able to bless his name even when it hurts beyond belief. Please pray for them and help carry them through this difficult time.

A sad day

Our good friends Matt and Lori shared the news with us on Good Friday that they were pregnant, then three days later, while celebrating Easter, we all found out that she was having twins! The journey ahead has been a wild one. Lori was great to have around because she prepared Jon for my pregancy as she went from a very private person to sharing all kinds of fun facts about her and what the pregnancy was doing to her. We were both so excited to be able to go through this journey together.

Then on July 21, Lori was put on bedrest, and the following Monday she was hospitalized with pre-eclampsia (severe high blood pressure). She was a little more than 21 weeks and the fight for the girls to survive began. Doctors said they would have to deliver as that was the only way to help Lori. So, EVERYONE started praying, and Lori got better! On August 8 (24 weeks) we celebrated PINK day because the girls were all doing great.

Then only 4 days later,(a little more than 24 weeks), Lori's levels took a turn for the worse and the doctors decided it was time. Olivia and Abigail were born on Aug. 13; weighing 1 lb 4oz and 13oz respectively. This was a hard day because they were so little and the road ahead would be VERY hard to survive. Yesterday,(Aug. 15) little Abigail Faith passed away, and I believe with out a doubt that she is now in Heaven. Her very short life brought so many to their knees before God and so many in the hospital got to see God doing incredible things in Lori's life. I know her life was not in vain!

Right now, my heart hurts so badly for Matt and Lori. Little Olivia is doing good but has such a battle in front of her- Please pray for her! Lori is not doing well as her levels are not stabilizing and I am sure she is overwhelmed by grief.

My prayers for them right now is Phil. 4:7. Please join me in praying specifically for that peace for Matt and Lori! Also, please pray for Olivia that she would be strong and survive with very few complications and surprise the doctors at how well she does these next couple of months.

I know God is in control of my pregnancy and I am VERY thankful that it has been uneventful so far, but it is so hard to see your good friend going through such hard times when we are anticipating what lies ahead for us.

A blog and a boy!

OK-so I have wasted about 3 hours today trying to figure out how to make this blog cute like the other ones I keep seeing! I still don't know how to add elements and the ones that I did add, were by luck!
Jon wants me to include something about him on here, so I have decided to share what I like best about him...
1. He prayed for me to be his wife for several years-so I know he really did choose me and loves me
2. He is very smart (yes, he is an actual rocket scientist) intellectually and Spiritually.
3. He loves to travel and have fun
4. He likes to make up silly songs
5. He is a great provider and great at saving
6. He is going to be a great daddy!!
7. He puts up with me! :o)

The 2 became 1, now the 1 became 3!

I will officially start this blog off with great news! Yesterday, August 1, 2008, I got to see what once looked like a black speck, then a little ball, then an odd shaped peanut to - a real almost 2 inch baby! And to top it off, baby was bouncing up and down with it's newly formed legs!! It's one thing to see a picture of someone else's ultrasound; but to see your own baby inside your abdomen moving around is quite an experience!
Our little one is due to arrive sometime in mid February. Each ultrasound changes the date by a couple of days and as of right now it's 2-17-09.
Yes, we are very excited and hopefully I will keep this blog up to date so you can enjoy the experience with us!
