Colorado trip

This was our very first time to leave Allie with someone else overnight!! Jon and I went to Colorado for 5 days while my mom so graciously stayed at our house to take care of Allie. We left Thursday morning at 6:30, so we didn't get to say goodbye to her. We flew to Denver and then drove up to Winter Park to go snow tubing for the afternoon.

It was so much fun and VERY windy and cold.

I think Jon was more concerned about Allie than I was as he talked about her all day long! That night we drove back to Denver and had dinner with our friends Chris and Susie and their little baby boy Tobin (who is so precious). We thought about taking a picture right as we drove off... Then we drove to Colorado Springs to stay with Jon's cousin Cathey for the night. On Friday, she showed us around the mountains where she lives and the Hotel. Jon had made plans with the guy he works with to go to the Family Life Weekend to Remember Marriage conference (Fri.-Sun) with his wife and me. We had a good time and although it was nothing new for us; as we have been to lots of things like this, it was still great to get away. We even had a date night had dinner, played pool, went bowling, hung out at a C&W Dance hall, and then had homemade ice cream!!The weather was sunny and warm until Sunday afternoon when it started to snow- and didn't stop! After the conference, we went to a super cute little town in the mountains called Manitou Springs and walked around the cute stores and played skeetball in an old time arcade.

It is right by the Garden of the Gods National Park which has some cool rock formations. We headed back to Cathey's for dinner and decided it was best to drive back to Denver that night; instead of risking being snowed in (and yes, that could have happened!). This was at her house.

Originally we were going to stay through to Tuesday and go skiing, but after many days of both Allie and my mom not getting sleep, we decided it was best to come home early. Allie got a runny nose and cough the day we left (!) and was not feeling well or sleeping well. When we got home, Allie looked a little confused and started crying when we came in to see her! (Not quite the homecoming we were hoping for!) .
All in all, it was a great time and we really enjoyed getting away ( and sleeping in!!!!). Thanks so much Mom for watching Allie and keeping my mind at ease! Before we left this was her walking...

And while we were gone Allie has mastered the whole walking thing!!... well almost...
